Red Hill Animal Health Center works together with the Carbondale Police Department to provide shelter for lost dogs and cats, and help reconnect owners with their missing companions. When no owner is found, we go the extra mile to make sure these dogs are adopted to responsible, loving families. As part of our service to the community and the homeless dogs, Red Hill provides free vaccines and spay/neuters for all adoptable dogs in the Carbondale Shelter. Red Hill Animal Health Center also offers free initial exams, within the first 45 days, for pets adopted from any of our terrific local shelters.
A: Contact the Carbondale Police Department at 970-963-2662 and follow their instructions. We only accept dogs found within the Carbondale city limits. Dogs found in Garfield County should contact Garfield County Sheriff at 970-945-0453; dogs found within Glenwood Springs city limits should call Glenwood Springs Police at 970-384-6500, both for transport to Colorado Animal Rescue at 970-947-9173.
A: There is no "leash law" for cats however cats may be brought in by the police department if complaints are received. If you find a sick or injured cat you can contact the Carbondale Police Department at 970-963-2662. It is always safest for your cats and wildlife to keep cats indoors.
A: To pick up your lost dog, contact the Carbondale Police Department at 970-936-2662 and follow their instructions. The fee varies and is determined by the police and made payable to the Carbondale Police Department. Red Hill Animal Health Center cannot release any dog from the shelter without authorization from the CPD.

A: Dogs/Cats that have not been claimed after 5 days are up for adoption. The fee for adopting a dog is $135 and a cat is $100. No dog or cat leaves Red Hill Animal Health Center without being spayed or neutered, microhipped and vaccinated. Your adoption fee helps cover part of these expenses.
